In fact, many cricket experts and people made fun of Imran Tahir after he was appointed captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors. Meanwhile, Tahir wait for the right time to respond to the haters and trollers who made fun of him playing as a captain of a team. The star spinner replied by winning the title of CPL for his team. Tahir Thanks Ashwin After Winning CPL Title

On Sunday, September 24, 2023, Imran Tahir led Guyana Amazon Warriors to win the title. Warriors beat one of the most successful teams of CPL Trinbago Knight Riders in the final with nine wickets, to lift the title of CPL for the first time. Where everyone made fun of Imran Tahir after being appointed captain of the team, Indian spinner R Ashwin saw him capable of leading the team. R Ashwin predicted Imran Tahir-led Guyana Amazon Warriors would lift the title this year. Likewise, Amazon Warriors thrashed Knight Riders by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, Imran Tahir thought it was the right time to make note of those who had joked about the decision of appointing him the captain of the team. During the post-match presentation, he said “It’s been a great experience playing for this beautiful franchise and playing for these beautiful people who always come and support us. I’m just grateful to the almighty first of all. Coming into the competition, everyone was sending jokes that I had become a captain, so I think those things motivated me, I actually want to thank those people who said that, and I also want to thank my family, all the players’ families, they’ve been on the road with us. It’s been a great journey, a very special journey”

The South African spinner also went on to thank R Ashwin who predicted his team would win the tournament despite all odds against. He said, “I’m really, really grateful to him” as his prediction motivated him.
