Gyovanny Arzuaga and his girlfriend Yasmin Parvez has died after a group of black men shot them in Chicago’s Humboldt Park. The couple was having two young children. The incident happened when they were celebrating Puerto Rico Day. The attackers shot Arzuaga in the head. He took to the Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center where he declared dead. Yasmin was shot in the neck and was admitted to the Stronger Hospital. Doctors said that her condition was critical. when they took her to the hospital where she died on Tuesday.
The Juneteenth weekend saw a run in crime across the country where one man died and seven were injured at a shooting event in La Merritt. A female who was celebrating Juneteenth stopped the ambulance and blocked it from reaching the scene. Perez was basically from Hanover Park, Illinois and currently settled in Schaumburg, Chicago. Her Instagram page gave hint about her relationship with Arzuaga that the couple was engaged for a long time. They were having two kids, a girl name Sofiya Serenity Perez and a boy name Jayden Javier Arzuaga. The police stated that the couple got shot at 09:23 pm in the 3200 block of Division Street by two black men. They were celebrating the Puerto Rican Day Parade and got shot after a couple of hours. Police are still searching for the culprits but no arrest has been made yet.
A GoFundMe page was started to raise fund to manage to amass 104,608 dollars. People are donating funds after donating to the cause and their target was to raise 10,000 dollars. The organizers updated the campaign and said that “We would first like to thank everyone who has shared and donated to the GoFundMe. We were having no idea that we expect this kind of response and we greatly appreciate it. Sadly, this morning, Yasmin passed away due to the major injuries. She fought hard for the last couple of days but ultimately decided to join Gyo in heaven.
