A man has been arrested by police charged over the alleged murder of a New South Wales mother named Christine Neilan. The arrest was made after 18 months. Christine Neilan’s body was found in Bushland in State’s north. The police began an extensive search of a Lightning Ridge property and surrounding bushland last week.
Police arrested a local tourist operator named Vittorio Stefanato who is 73-years-old. He was arrested by police at around 10 AM on October 18, 2021. She was a mother of four and found dead with significant head injuries. Christine’s body was found on January 9, 2020, by the side of the road.
According to the sources, the older age man was arrested after police found some clues related to Christine’s murder. Finally, police have come to some conclusions regarding this murder case. The murder case went viral across the social media. After the arrest was made, Stefanao was taken to the Walgett Police Station and charged with the murder. His bail was refused in court when he was taken to the Walgett Local Court on October 19, 2021.
Who Was Christine Neilan?
Christine Neilan was a New South Wales mother who was found dead or murdered on January 8, 2020. She was found dead with several head injuries by the side of the road in Bushland. Along with this, the police investigated the case and released CCTV footage in which Christine could be seen leaving the supermarket in 2020. Since 2019, he had been living with her mother in Lightning Ridge. The people around of her house knew her as she used to go with her dog on regular walk-in nearby areas.
A video was posted by 9News on its official Twitter page in which, Stefanao can be seen walking with police and his face was blurred in the video. He sit in a car and went from there with officers. Danny Doherty, who is a Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent said that the head injuries of Christine was caused by a gunshot. He added that during their investigation, the officers found a firearm that will be examined soon.
They did not find any kind of relation between them but mostly, it is common that people know each other in a small town. The man was arrested by Homicide Squad Detectives after they searched a property and the nearby area from October 14 to 17 by taking the help of a dog unit and a bomb squad to find any clue.
Christine’s family also seek help to the public to find out the murderer and helped investigators to find him. Christine was 39-years-old and was a loving member of her family. She had kind nature and always loved to help others.
