A 24-year-old girl from Jammu and Kashmir has become the first-ever woman fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF) from Rajouri District. Mawya Sudan is commissioned into the IAF as a Flying Officer. She has become the 12th Woman officer appointed as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. In an interview, Mawya’s parents talked about her achievements and also appreciated her. Mawya’s sister is appointed as a JE in Shri Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Maria’s father said that “I am feeling proud and the whole nation proud of her as
she is not my daughter but a daughter of this country. We are getting congratulatory messages since yesterday”. Mawya’s sister said that, “I am extremely proud of my younger sister. She always wanted to be a fighter pilot as this was the only dream she has since her childhood. She has worked hard to achieve her goals. This is just the beginning and she will add to her laurels soon. Everyone is treating her like their own daughter. The people of our country are highly appreciating her for her achievements. She is an inspiration to many and
this will motivate girls all across the country”. Maya’s mother said that, “My daughter worked so hard to reach this place and I am extremely happy for her. This is a proud moment for each parent when their children achieve their goals. She has made all of us proud along with the nation. Maya’s grandmother has also stated that everyone in the village is happy when they learn the news. A parade held at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal Hyderabad, where the Air Chief Mr Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria also reviewed the combined graduation passing out parade.
In the end, her parents said that ” Maya achieved this through her hard work, focus, and passion. Each parent should support their children to achieve their goals and encourage them to fulfil their dreams. Mawya has shown her interest in Indian Air Force in her childhood, and we always support her to follow her dreams. Now she has made us proud along with the country.
