The most loved father-son duo, Mufasa and Simba are roaring at the box office with Disney’s latest presentation, The Lion KingThe movie was released on July 19, Friday, opposite. The film is receiving much love and support from the Indian audience. More interestingly, the real-life father-son duo Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan and his 21-year-old son Aryan Khan gave their voices to Mufasa and Simba in the movie. The film was released in four different languages English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and received impressive opening at the box office.

The Lion King received the screen count of 2,140 at the time of its release in India and opened up with Rs 11.06 crore. The has successfully completed its first weekend run with great box office collection. The film has grossed over Rs 50 crore within just three days. The movie showed impressive growth in the box office collection during its first weekend as it obtained the momentum during the weekend. The film earned Rs 19.15 crore and Rs 24.54 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively and standing strong with the total first weekend (3 days) box office collection of Rs 54.75 crore.

The leading trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest collection figures of The Lion King. He said the film has set fire at the box office. He tweeted, “Proves all forecasts/predictions wrong, as biz crosses ₹ 50 cr in 3 days… Trends much, much better than #TheJungleBook [₹ 40.19 cr]… Fri 11.06 cr, Sat 19.15 cr, Sun 24.54 cr. Total: ₹ 54.75 cr. India biz. All versions.”

Jon Favreau‘s directorial movie The Lion King has surpassed the first-weekend box office collection of his 2016 fantasy adventure film The Jungle Bookwhich grossed Rs 40.19 crore in three days. This Friday released Disney movie has become the second Hollywood film to have an opening weekend of over Rs 50 crore in India. Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame had rocked the Indian box office earlier this year as the Hollywood superhero flick generated the box office business of over Rs 50 crore each day. Endgame is the current highest grosser film worldwide.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, “is the second #Hollywood film to cross ₹ 50 cr NBOC [opening weekend] in *2019*… Earlier, had set a new benchmark by collecting ₹ 50 cr+ every single day: [Fri] ₹ 53.60 cr, [Sat] ₹ 52.20 cr, [Sun] ₹ 52.85 cr. India biz. All versions.”
