The King: Eternal Monarch premiered over SBS network last weekend with two episodes having already been rolled out, one on Friday and other on Saturday. The eagerly awaited show got a monstrous viewership from the day it has been disclosed. With this show, Lee Min-Ho and Kim Go Eun also have made their return to the small screen. Though within the excitement, the show has found itself into the pit of controversy for featuring religious monuments in the opening scenes.
The news took fire when some viewers noticed that the fictional world of the Korean Realm depicted in the title video appeared to have utilized the pictures of premises that are like Japanese temples, Tōdai-ji and Kōfuku-ji. They have criticized the makers and some of them cautioned, they will quit watching the show. However, the production team of “The King: Eternal Monarch” has apologized and will make changes to the dramatization following analysis over the show including design apparently affected by Japanese temples.
The fan-rom, The King: Eternal Monarch shows two parallel world’s, the Republic of Korea and Kingdom of Korea, the previous one is cutting edge Korea and the last one is an elective universe in which Korea is an empire ruled by a monarch. The leader of the realm is killed by his desirous sibling and his child, the sovereign, barely survives, with the help of a mysterious person who chases away the killers.
The prince grows up to become Emperor Lee Gon, He longs to find his mysterious saviour, what he cannot be sure of is that she lives in a parallel universe, one he can’t envision. Luckily, in the Kingdom of Korea, a bewitched and broken instrument can transport characters between worlds and through time. Ultimately, the king will be seen trying to close the doors to a parallel world which was opened by evil presences who were released by a divinity into the human world, and a detective Jung Tae-Eul who tries to protect the people and the one she loves.
With the last two episodes being premiered, it left all of us in suspense, when Lee Gon offered Tae-Eul to be her queen, the curiosity in the fans mind is definitely, will she accept his proposal?
