After he was made the target of mind flayer he returned in the previous season of the show and saw how different it got after he arrived. There has been a question that had surfaced and that was if Will was gay in Stanger Things or not. Season 4 of the show has confirmed this speculation. There were hints in the earlier episodes of this season that Will was gay. The confirmation came at the end of the show when they had defeated Vecna and there were some huge characters that died as well.
So, the answer to the question of whether Will is gay or not is finally given and it is that he is gay. It is confirmed that Will loves Mike. The revelation came about at a time when Will and Mike were talking in episode 8 of the show. Mike tells that Eleven loves him and needs him but is doubtful about it. This made way for Will to finally confess his feelings in an indirect way by explaining that El cares for him and that he is not a dumb nerd.
