Kerala’s Thiruvananthpuram case of nun transferred to a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 22nd December. The case named Abhaya Case delivered to the CBI to start a proper investigation of the murder case of Nun. The case held a priest and a nun guilty of killing her. Sister Abhaya was murdered and her body was thrown inside the well of a convent in Kottayam in 1992.
After that, Father Thomas Kottor is also in all the accused, who was a Vicar and taught Sister Abhaya Psychology at BCM College, Kottayam. He was also the secretary of the then bishop. Later, he also became the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese in Kottayam.
The second convict is Sister Sephy who stays in the same hostel in which Sister Abhaya lives. The punishment to the accused will be delivered tomorrow and the CBI Court will be announced the actual punishment to all the accused. Both of them are found guilty of the murder case of Abhaya and destruction of the evidence.
Human rights activist Joman Puttenpurkel, the only surviving member of the panel fighting to pursue justice in the murder case, said: “Sister Abhaya’s case has finally got justice. She will rest in peace. This is a classic example of how no one should think that just because they have power – money and muscle power – they can de-rail justice”.
After that, the CBI witnessed intimate contacts of Sister Abhaya named Father, Jose Poothrikkayil, and Sephy. The murder happened on March 27, 1992, and after that the case continuously running to give justice to Sister Abhaya. The CBI explained the entire case and said that between 4:15 AM to 5 AM, the accused allegedly hit Sister Abhaya with a blunt object and when she dies then threw her body into the well to change the murder into suicide.
Before two years, Poothrikkayil who was considered as one of the initial accused was acquitted by a special CBI court and the other two accused named Kottor and Sephy’s applications were rejected. The entire case was labeled as “Death by Suicide” by Police and Crime Branch. The first three final reports of the Central agency were rejected by the court that may be given more accurate and actual results in the investigation.
