Former Chief Minister of Rajashthan Shri Jagannath Pahadia has died on Wednesday due to COVID-19. He was a congress leader and served as a Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1980-1981. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has shared his condolence and said, “I am very shocked by his demise. He died due to COVID-19. He has shown a lot of affection for me from the beginning”. Shri Jagannath Pahadia was an Indian politician and a leader of the Indian National Congress party where he served as a Governor of Haryana, Governor of Bihar, and Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 6th July 1980 to 14th July 1981.

He won the elections as the first Dalit from Rajasthan and held this position. He was a member of Lok Sabha in 2nd, 4th 5th, and 7th Lok Sabha. He served from 3rd March 1989 to 2nd February 1990, as a Governor of Bihar. Then he appointed as a Governor of Haryana from 27th July 2009 to 26th July 2014. He has a long political career. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also Twitted his condolence and wrote, “Saddened to know the demise of former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Jagannath Pahadia Ji. He made a noteworthy contribution in his long political career for social empowerment.

They also organized a cabinet meeting on Thursday at 12 noon where they will pay condolence to Mr.Pahadia. The last rites of Shri Jagannath will be performed on Thursday. Gehlot has announced in the other post that Rajasthan state will observe the one-day state mourning and the National flag will fly at half-mast in honor of former Chief Minister Shri Jagannath Pahadia.

The government departments will be closed on Thursday. He stated that “I am shocked by his demise due to COVID-19. He was one of the veteran leaders in our country who has served in three states and had a long administrative career”. Congress said that Pahadi’s death is nit less than a shock to them and this is a tremendous loss for the party. His contribution to politics will also be remembered in the country.
