Sanna was on her way to Paris as she had to attend a book launch and photography exhibition. She said that she was stopped by the officials at the airport and was not given any reason. They said that she could not travel abroad and that was all they had said to her.
“I was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Paris today for a book launch and photography exhibition as one of the 10 award winners of the Serendipity Arles grant 2020. Despite procuring a French visa, I was stopped at the immigration desk at Delhi airport, I was not given any reason but told I would not be able to travel internationally.”, this was stated by her in a tweet while she shared the picture of the canceled boarding pass.

There was a similar incident that happened in September 2019, Kashmiri journalist Gowhar Geelani was also stopped at the airport in a similar manner when she was on her way to Germany. In 2021, the administration of J&K stopped the journalist that had turned into an academician, Zahid Rafiq from boarding a flight to the US, where he was invited to teach at a university. Journalist Ruwa Shah was also stopped from going abroad and another academician from Kashmir was stopped but was allowed, later on, to travel, after a few months.

Sanna is a renowned journalist and there is no statement given by any government officials. The incident was unfair to the journalist and there should be a proper investigation on the matter the reason for stopping her should also be clarified.
