Let us tell you that Pongal is a total festival of four days. These four days are celebrated in four forms. This includes a Thai Pongal and it is considered the most important day of Pongal, Thai Pongal. However, it is the second day of Pongal, which most people know as Sankranti. This year, Pongal will start on 14 January and it ends on the 17th of January. It is celebrated in different ways on different dates.

  • On the 14th of January 2022, Pongal day will be celebrated as Bhogi Pandigai.
  • On the 15th of January 2022, Pongal day will be celebrated as Thai Pongal.
  • On the 16th of January 2022, Pongal day will be celebrated as Mattu Pongal.
  • On the 17th of January 2022, Pongal day will be celebrated as Kaanum Pongal.

At the beginning of the festival, people clean their house and remove all the old things which are useless then they start worshiping the sun. On the same day, people bring utensils of clay along with milk & rice, and many other things to worship the sun. People celebrate this with full of joys and happiness. Many women like to follow this ritual early in the morning before bathing.
