The former Indian Politician and former Member of Parliament from the Siwan constituency in the state of Bihar Mohammad Shahabuddin who is lodged in Tihar jail passed away due to COVID -19 at a hospital on Saturday. He was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Janata Dal and the Rashtriya Janata Dal. He was sentenced to serving a life in jail as he accused of killing 15 Communist Party Activists and a leading former student leader Chandeshwar Prasad.

He has also accused of the kidnapping of Chord LAL Gupta who is an activist of the Communist Party of India. The Prisons Director General Mr Sandeep Goel has confirmed that the gangster Shahabuddin tested positive on 20th April so they admitted him to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

He was admitted there for better treatment and his condition was critical two days ago so the doctor put him on a ventilator but he died on Saturday during treatment. Mr Sandeep Goel has stated that ” we have the confirmation about the treatment of Muhammad Shahabuddin who was on a ventilator due to critical conditions and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital confirmed that he passed away on Saturday. He was tested positive for COVID-19, on 20th April and was admitted to the hospital in Delhi”.

Shahabuddin was a gangster who turned a politician accused of a number of murder cases. He was also famous with the name “Sultan of Siwan” among the people of Bihar. He got charged in jail of Bhagalpur for 11 years when he murdered two sons of a businessman Chandeshwar Prasad.

The day when he released from jail, Mr Prasad has told that “This is not less than a death sentence if Mohd. Shahabuddin will get bail from jail”. In 2018, agin he got arrested in a murder case and shifted to Delhi’s Tihar jail on a Supreme Court order.

He has also criticized the Chief Nitish of Bihar in 2016,  saying that he has become the Chief Minister of circumstances. Then Shahabuddin’s wife Mrs. Hina Sahab tried to take participate in contested parliamentary polls from Siwan but unfortunately defeated by BJP candidate Kavita Singh. In 2020, when Shahabuddin’s father expired in Pratapur village of Siwan then he denied taking part in the final rites of his father. Shahabuddin’s last rights will be performed by his two sons.
