Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest romantic drama movie Malaal completely failed at the box office as the film received a poor opening. The film starring Meezaan Jaffery and Sharmin Segal in the lead roles, both the star kids marked their Bollywood debut with the film. According to the box office reports, Malaal grossed less than Rs 50 lakh on its first day of release. The film clashed with much-awaited Marvel’s superhero Hollywood flick Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hit the theatres a day before and opened up with Rs 10 crore.
Meezaan and Sharmin starrer Malaal has collected around Rs 45 lakh on its opening day. Sanjay’s movie’s first-day collection is less than the similar movies like Zaheer Iqbaal and Pranutan Bahl’s Notebook and Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain’s Loveyatri. Sharmin is the niece of the popular Bollywood director, producer, screenwriter, and music director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali while Meezam is a son of famous veteran Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey.

Malaal focuses on a contemporary love story with the class divide. The story of the film revolves around the unrequited love story of Shiva (Meezaan) and Astha (Sharmin), who come from contrasting backgrounds and live in a Mumbai chawl. In addition, the music of the film is highly inspired by the local Marathi music. Talking about the box office collection of Spider-Man, the Hollywood movie grossed around Rs 8.5 crore on Friday that leads the total collection to Rs 18 crore. The story of the film continues after the death of Iron Man (Tony Stark) in Avengers: Endgame in which Spider-Man (Parker) is recruited by Nick Fury and Mysterio to face elemental threats from another dimension while he is on a school trip to Europe.

While Article 15 is keeping up with the steady box office business, Kabir Singh is breaking all records of box office collection. Shahid’s film has crossed the mark of Rs 200 crore and standing strong with the total collection of Rs 218.60 crore.
