Kollywood filmmaker Shankar’s mother died at age 88 as she was facing age-related issues for the last 5 months. She has passed away in her residence in Chennai on Tuesday. The news has been confirmed by the Legendary director Charan on social media. He wrote, “Dear Shankar, My condolence to your mother. May her soul rest in peace”. Many Kollywood stars shared their condolence on social media. Actor Arun Vijay wrote on Twitter that, “Heartfelt condolence to the family and prayers for her soul to rest in peace”. Shankar is an Indian filmmaker and worked in Tamil Film Industry. He started his career by directing his debut film “Gentleman” which was released in 1993. He has won the Filmfare Best Director Award and the Tamilnadu state Film Award for Best Director.
He is well known for his skills of direction while directing a movie. He is one of the highest-paid directors of India. He has always focused on the issues that people facing in their daily lives and worked on films that show this. A.R Rahman has composed the music for more than 10 films that have been directed by Shankar. His superhit film “Indian” has won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Shankar has also honored with the honorary doctorate award by M.G.R University for his directed movie “Indian”. Shankar has directed the movie 2.0 which was released in 2018 featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role. This was the fourth highest-grossing film in India.
2.0 has become the sixth highest-grossing Indian film worldwide. Shankar is working on his upcoming Bollywood remake Indian 2 featuring Kamal Hassan, Kajal Aggarwal, Sidharth, and Nedumudi Venu. Anniyan Aascar Ravichandran who is the producer of the film “Indian” has claimed that he owned the right to the movie and would not permit Shankar to direct this film. Then Shankar wrote a letter to him where he explained that he had the right to the movie and he can direct. Although he started troubling Shankar by cutting down the cost for making the movie which Shankar didn’t want. Now, this case is running in Madras High Court.
Shankar gas also talked about an upcoming project where he is working with actor Ram Charan and Producer Dil Raju. He has announced in his Twitter account on 12th February 2021 that “I am excited to share this with all that our new project will be headed by Dil Raju”. He has not disclosed the team of the film yet and the officials will announce the film-related details soon. The Kollywood stars have posted their heartfelt condolence on social media after Shankar’s mother passed away on Tuesday night. The last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
