India is in full “Josh” to beat Pakistan in the ICC world cup 2019.  As a world cup excitement, it is decided that India vs Pakistan will be held on the 16th of June 2019. The World cup caravan moved into the city of Manchester for the big game on Sunday but unfortunately, it’s welcomed by rain again. Bad weather has been plaguing this World Cup with its wanton ways, condemning four matches to be classified as no results or abandoned. On Thursday India- New Zealand match was also cancelled as there was continuous drizzle in Nottingham from several days.

India v/s Pakistan Match Date, Time

At the Old Trafford, the covers were on and the ground looked lush green but very wet as the sound of strong drizzle could be heard inside the media center. Quite magically, at around 10;30 am, the sun came out to cast a benevolent glance at the ground. Immediately, the groundstaff rushed to the middle of the ground and removed all the covers and began working on the turf.

Their body language suggested that they were anxiously waiting for the sun to come out. The best thing was that rain stayed away for the most part of the day, giving ample time to the groundstaff to work in the park. The forecast for the next two days is mixed. It is predicted that light showers can happen on both days i.e Saturday and Sunday. On 16th June 2019 i.e on the match-day, the rains are more likely to come in the afternoon which could impact the second half of the game. However, the improved weather on Friday raised hopes of a Sunday blockbuster.

It is said that if the weather stays generally dry over the next two days, there shouldn’t be any problem with a full game. But the fingers are crossed as the rain can begin any time in England. No one can bargain for the wet climes as one has witnessed here over the last 10-12 days. Because of the wet ground conditions, the Pakistan team had an indoor practice session on Friday. Senior Pakistan player Mohammad Hafeez did come down to inspect the pitch and had done some practice in the middle.

All player in their hearts knows that this is a special match even if at times the reason is purely non-cricketing. No wonder Sachin Tendulkar urges Indian batsman to be more aggressive against a skilful Amir unlike 2017 Champion Trophy while skipper Kholi speaks about having an “ideal mindset” even if the first-timers may find the “occasion intimidating”.  The narrative of Indo-Pak duel is such that irrespective of weather it is a World Cup game or not, it creates heroes or villains for life in the eyes of fans. Virat Kohli has always enjoyed a fabulous track record against Pakistan, having scored a hundred in the 2015 game at Adelaide. A hundred is due and Indian captain’s sense of occasion makes him a big contender for a three-figure mark.
