Beloved Malian politician who served as the President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta passed away at the age of 76. The news of his death was confirmed by his family and former colleagues. According to the sources, the cause of his death was not confirmed immediately but as soon as possible, it will be announced publicly.

He was the loving politician of the Mali empire. Two years ago, the former president suffered a minor stroke. As per the official sources, he took his last breath at around 09:00 GMT at his residence in the capital Bamako, one of his family members told to the news agency.

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta Death Reason

Until 2020, he stayed the president of Mali for seven-year when he was ousted in a coup after a massive anti-government protest over his handling of jihadist unrest. He served from September 2013 to August 2020 as the president of Mali.

He also served as Mali’s Prime Minister from 1994 to 200 and as a president of the National Assembly of Mali from 2002 to 2007. He founded the center-left politicial party Rally of Mali (RPM) in 2001. He got no success in his campaigns but later, he was elected President in the 2013 Presidential Election and later, he was reelected in 2018.

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was born on January 29, 1945, in Koutiala, French Sudan, French West Africa, France. Now, the place is known as Koutiala, Mali. He took his education from Lycee Janson-de-Sailly in Paris and Lycee Askia-Mohamed in Barnako. He continued his education at the University of Dakar.

Later, completing his education, he became a researcher at the CNRS and also taught courses on Third World Politics at the University of Paris. He also worked in France for decades including becoming a teacher at the Univesity of Paris before coming back to his birthplace in 1980. He is remembered in various places as a generous, irascible, and divisive figure by his entourage.

After his news went viral on the Internet, many politicians expressed their condolence over his death and paid tribute to the late politician. His political life was not enough good and during his presidency, he suffered from lots of controversies made among the residence of Mali.

He was married to Keita Aminata Maiga who was a former First Lady of Mali. The couple had four children. His son named Karim is a member of the National Assembly and he married to the daughter of the President of the National Assembly, Issaka Sidibe. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta will be always remembered by his family.
