An American county music singer and well-known songwriter, Mickey Gilley sadly passed away at the age of 86. His namesake Texas-sized honky-tonk bar was the birthplace of the “Urban Cowboy” music and fashion fads of the 1980s. Unfortunately, the star has gone from this world and took his last breath on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Branson, Missouri. The news of his death was confirmed through a Facebook page that announced it. It is upsetting to hear that Mickey Gilley is no more among us and his fans are paying tributes to him.
The news was confirmed by Mickey Gilley’s Personal Update Page which reads,” Country singer and actor Mickey Gilley is known for launching the Urban Cowboy movement in Country music and hit songs including “Stand By Me”,” Room Full of Roses”, and “Lonely Night” died Saturday in Branson, Missouri”. While an employee of the Mickey’s Theatre in Branson confirmed that he has died but didn’t know the cause of his death. At the last, he was survived by his wife Cindy Loeb Gilley, his children Kathy, Michael, Gregory, and Keith Ray, four grandchildren and also nine great-grandchildren, and his cousin Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis.
