A girl of class vii who was gang-raped by six persons in Rajkot gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday. The doctors say that the rape survivor was healthy during the delivery process, but the health of the baby girl has remained critical.
This 11-year-old school going girl delivered a baby girl at the Rasulkhanji Zanana Hospital who has been diagnosed to have Spina Bifida which is a congenital disability. The baby girl was later shifted to the hospital in Ahmadabad.
According to the doctors, the baby girl needs to go through a neurological intervention because her lower part of the baby’s spinal cord is not adequately developed. On the other side, the family of the rape survivor says that they won’t abandon the baby girl as for now. However, one of the close relatives of the family said that they are not in favor of raising the child, but they want her to live. The family member said, “They are not abandoning the baby right now and hope that police would take care of the child later on.”
As for now, the rape survivor is healthy and excellent, and the doctors said she went through a cesarean section to get the baby delivered but had no severe complications.
The rape survivor was gang-raped by six men about 8-9 months from now. Among all the six accused, two elderly and a minor was also included in the crime. The six accused men were identified as Manji Javiya 67, Aravind Kubavat 52, Govind Sakariya 60, Vipul Chavda 40, and Vijanand Maiyad 47. They all belonged to the same locality as that of the victim. Police got hold of the accused 5 and barred the juvenile.
