Another heartbreaking news hitting the internet that Former deputy speaker of Kerala Assembly and Kochi Mayor Kattissery Muhammed Hamsa Kunju leaves his breath on Thursday. He was 81 years old and took his long sleep due to Cardiac Arrest. Around 09:30 PM on Thursday, he was at his residence when he got a cardiac arrest. He was survived by his wife and two children.
If we talk about his career then he started his political career with the Indian Union Muslim League. In 1982, Hamsa Kunju also elected to the seventh Kerala assembly from the Mattanchery constituency. After that, he was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Kerala Assembly in the same year. He was the most respected and reputed personality loved by millions of people across the country. Before becoming the Deputy Speaker, he was the Mayor of Kochi in 1973. Apart from this, he was the senior councillor in the Kochi corporation council in 2015.
Hamsa Kunju won as the senior member of the council under the LDF banner from Thrikkanarvattom. Even, he was also a member of KTDC and GCDA. When he started his political career with IUML, he did not work for IUML, even, he supports more parties such as CPM, Congress, DIC (K) and Nationalist Congress Party. In his family, his wife Nabeesa and two sons included who survived him. Now, the funeral of such a respected personality will be held on Friday in Kochi.
