The former director and Chairman Mike Bailey of the West’s Tigers passed away on Sunday at age 71. He was the weatherman on Channel Seven and ABC TV. West’s Tigers has also paid tribute and stated that “Wests Tigers are deeply saddened by the passing of former Director and Chairman Mike Bailey. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday. Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe also paid tribute to Mike and wrote, “On behalf of all the West’s Tigers, we are extremely saddened to learn the demise of Mike. We have lost him too early,
we thank him for all they he has done for our club. I consider him a true wand the mentor. My deepest sympathies and thought are with his family during this time”. Justin Pascoe said that “Mike’s commitment to Wests Tigers was of the highest level and his contribution to this club will also be remembered”. Mike Bailey has joined ABC in 1968. He worked there as a cadet journalist and served for 13 years at Channel Seven. He has also won the award of the Australia Medal (OAM) in 2020 for his service to the community.
He got returned from the ABC in 2007 and joined as a weatherman during a brief stint on Channel Nine. He worked there for two years and left in 2009. He was also a supporter of the Western Suburbs Magpies along with Wests Tigers. He elected for the Wests Ashfield in 2011 and elected as the Chairman of Wests Ashfield. He has also worked as a Chairman of Wests Tigers along with the director. He has worked in many organisations in his long career. He worked in many television organisation and radio stations along with Channel Seven and Channel Nine.
Mr. Cook wrote about Mike that, ” He was a true gentleman and always tried to assist Wests Tigers wherever he could. He has always helped everyone before giving time to himself. Mike was a mentor, a friend and a wonderful human being. The staff will miss him for his loyalty, wisdom, support, and smiling face. He was a good friend and will always be missed. The news of his passing was devastating”. Many coworkers of Mike has Twitter their posts where. they expressed their condolence to their family and friends.
