A man was arrested on Saturday when he found guilty in RT-PCR rest which surfaced during the 2021 Haridwar Mela. This is the first case that came into the limelight since the Covid-19 testing racket was smashed. The Uttrakhand government has authorised 11 private companies to carry out RT-PCR tests in this year’s Haridwar Kumbh Mela for the people who attended the fair.

First Arrest Made in Kumbh Mela's Covid-19 Testing Scam

The 11 companies which are hired to carry out tests, one of them is Max corporate services, which in turn hired Nalwa Labs and Dr Lalchandani Labs to held RT-PCR tests. They have carried out around one lakh tests under the scanner. A report shows that after the investigation, it has found that these tested were not actually conducted but were presented on papers.

They have put the lakh of life at risk and also comprised with their safety. According to the Haridwar District Magistrate C. Ravi Shankar, he stated that the private labs that held the RT-PCR tests were directed to mandatorily record details of each Kumbh Mela devotee whose sampled were being collected.

The labs went against the norms and resorted to illegal means to showcase the filled number of tests conducted by them. The Kumbh Mela Covid -19 test came to light when one Vipin Mittal, a resident of Faridkot said that he got an RT-PCR test even he didn’t attend the pilgrimage. Since December 2091, there has been considerable challenge regarding the use of nucleic acid test or critical characteristics of infected patients as the reference standard to make a definitive diagnose of COVID-19 patients. The  COVID-19 is critical for the prevention and control of this pandemic. The clinical characteristics cannot only define the diagnosis of COVID-19.
