Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced on Saturday that the COVID-19 induced lockdown will be continued with the ease of restrictions. He held a press conference on Friday where he stated that Delhi Metro will be started with 50% occupancy from Monday. He added that the malls will be opened on odd-even basis. There are more than 40,000 new cases have been registered per day in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal has stated that the lockdown will be continued, but new protocols will be followed by people from 7th June. The local shops and malls will be opened on an odd-even basis from 10 am to 8 pm. The private companies will be allowed to work with 50% occupancy.

Delhi Lockdown To Continue With Relaxations

The Group A staff in government offices will be allowed 100 % occupancy. Arvind Kejriwal addressed the media and said that “We are ready to combat the third wave of COVID-19. We have prepared the 420 tonnes of oxygen storage as we have spoken to Indraprastha Gas Limited to produce 150 tones of oxygen”. In the second wave of COVID-19, more than 2,15,000 people lost their lives. In the third wave of COVID-19, Delhi has reported 523 new cases and 50 fatalities on Friday. Their positivity rate was 0.68% and this has been shared by several health departments.

Delhi has registered 5487 cases of COVID-19  on Thursday which is the lowest daily count over the 3 months. This was the first time when the daily death count was gone below the 50- mark from last month. The health system is also working on helping families reach vaccinations and also providing maks and COVID-19 test kits to save the lives of many. Delhi has the sixth-highest number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Delhi. Maharashtra and Tamilnadu are in second and third place. In 2021 with a rapid change in the COVID-19 case, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced the weekend curfew in Delhi with some safety protocols.

Then lockdown extended several times on 25th April, 2nd May, 9th May, and 15th May. The Delhi government has also ordered making seven-day quarantine for all individuals arriving in the city by trains and flights. They can also visit the nearest hospital for the COVID-19 test if they find any COVID-19 symptoms. They will be home quarantined if the results will be positive for COVID-19.
