An incident took place on Sunday evening when a 48-year old cleric raped a 12-year old girl inside a mosque in northeast Delhi. The cleric has been arrested from the Loni District in Gaziabad on Monday. A report is issued by ANI agency where they stated that the girl went inside the mosque to fetch water at 10 pm. She was forcefully stopped by the cleric and then he raped her. When she reached home, she informed her parents about the incident and they immediately went to the police station to file the FIR. The girl has undergone a medical examination. After the incident occurred, the local people were concerned about the incident so the police force was deployed outside the mosque.
The whole incident was dictated by the girl on Sunday and the police have filed an FIR against the cleric. They have sent him to 14-days of judicial custody for the investigation. The police also investigated the victim’s parents and they stated that they asked her to fetch water from the mosque as they were short of drinking water at home. It was 10 pm when they asked her to fetch water. She went alone and returned home after some time. She told everything to her parents and they filed the FIR immediately in the nearest police station. The neighbors were concerned when they learned the incident and reached the mosque to confront the cleric.
Then he tried to escape from the mosque and fled through the rear door. The police ha arrested him on Monday morning from Loni Gaziabad where he lived. They have identified him as Imam Ilyas who is booked under section 376 of the Indian Panel Code and a relevant section of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. The girl has undergone a medical examination. After the incident occurred, the local people were concerned about the incident so the police force was deployed outside the mosque.
