The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed in a conference about the number of Corona positive cases India has crossed the 20,000 mark. With this, India joined the list of 17 countries including America, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Britain, where there are more than 20 thousand cases of infection. Out of which, India has 15859 active cases and 3959 people have been discharged from hospital after treatment. So far 653 people have died in the country from Corona. The Ministry informed that in the last 24 hours, Corona 1486 new cases have been identified and 49 people died.
The death rate is also increasing in India, day by day, with 251 people have died in Maharashtra due to Coronavirus infection. At the same time, 90 people died in Gujarat with 76 in Madhya Pradesh, 47 in Delhi, 25 in Rajasthan, 23 in Telangana and 22 died in Andhra Pradesh. According to the Health Ministry data, the highest number of infections in the country are in Maharashtra with 5,218 cases, 2,178 in Gujarat, 2,156 in Delhi, 1,659 in Rajasthan, 1,596 in Tamil Nadu and 1,552 in Madhya Pradesh.
There have been 56 new cases of corona in Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours. After this, the number of corona patients in the state has increased to 813. Of these 120 patients have been cured and 24 have died. Whereas, five new cases were reported in Bihar on Wednesday with that the total number of Covid-19 infections in the state reached to 131. In Haryana 260 corona cases have been reported so far in the state,153 people were recovered after treatment while 3 died.
The number of corona cases in Tamil Nadu has increased to 1629 with 33 more positive cases added. 11 new Corona cases were reported in Kerala. Five of them had traveled abroad and three were infected through local contacts. The total positive cases in the state are 437. In the last 24 hours, Karnataka has reported 9 new corona cases, 2 from Bangalore, 5 from Kalburgi and 2 from Mysore. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 427, including 131 discharges and 17 deaths.
Here, considering the attacks that have been faced by the many health workers in the states, the central government has prepared an ordinance to protect health workers. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said during the press conference on Wednesday that the government will not tolerate violence with health workers. Those who attack health workers will be sentenced to 3 months to 5 years of jail. At the same time, a provision of punishment from 6 months to seven years has been made for serious assault. Apart from this, a penalty will be imposed on them, ranging from 50 thousand to 2 lakh.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the law prepared for the epidemic for protecting healthcare workers. He said that this law shows our commitment to the safety of every healthcare worker. We cannot compromise their safety. The PM will interact with CMs of all States via video conferencing on 27th April.
