The T20 World Cup schedule is going to be held in the United Arab Emirates which was earlier decided to be held in India. The BCCI has officially announced that the tournament will be shifted to UAE due to the COVID-19 situation in India. This news was also confirmed by  President Soaurav Ganguly. He said that the board has officially intimated the ICC about its decision to conduct the T20 World Cup in the UAE. intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The details of the fixtures will be announced in the upcoming week. The decision has been taken keeping health safety concerns of all stakeholders in mind. When asked about if 17th October will be the start date of the tournament, Ganguly said that we will be able to finalise the details in some days. The rest of the tournaments will be played in the middle East. Various tournaments postponed in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. Now the BCCI has announced that IPL will be shifted to UAE. India has registered new cases of black fungus last month. Now Delta 3 variant is also spreading in the country. India comes under the ‘Red List’ like England and Australia. Earlier, the fixtures were decided to be held in India. The BCCI held a meeting on 1st June regarding the T20 World Cup.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic in India, the tournament has been shifted to UAE and the rest of the fixtures will be played there. The ICC asked management to focus on the planning to organize fixtures that are going to be hosted in UAE. They said that, “The ICC Board has requested management focus its planning efforts for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 on the event being staged in the UAE with the possibility of including another venue in the Middle East. A final decision on the host country will be taken later this month. The Board also confirmed that the BCCI will remain the hosts of the event regardless of where the event is played”.
