Ayushmann Khurrana starrer social political movie Article 15 is generating steady business at the box office. The film hit the theatres on June 28, Friday, and has been running into the theatres with good occupancy since its release. Anubhav Sinha’s directorial movie received highly positive reviews from film critics along with impressive ratings, the good word of mouth also contributed in decent box office business of the film. The film opened up on a decent note and grossed Rs 5.02 crore on its first day of release. It gained momentum during the weekend and rakes Rs 7.25 crore and Rs 7.77 crore on its second and third day respectively. The film generated great business on Sunday as well despite India Vs England World cup match.
Article 15 stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role, it also features Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, Ashish Verma and Veen in the prominent roles. The film focuses on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that prohibits the state from discriminating on grounds of any religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. The story of the movie is inspired by true life events including the much-hyped 2016 Una flogging incident and 2014 Badaun gang-rape and murder of two girls case. Ayushmann plays the leading role of a police officer, who investigates the gang-rape and murder case of two teenage Dalit girls and comes across the harsh reality of the society. The film is written by Gaurav Solanki and Anubhav Sinha.
