Ayushmann Khurrana’s Article 15 continues the steady business at the box office. The film has successfully ended its first week on a good note and currently running in its second week. The social-political drama Bollywood flick has raked Rs 40.86 crore till now. Anubhav Sinha’s directorial movie was opened up with Rs 5.02 crore and generated the box office business over Rs 20 crore within its first week. The film was released on June 28 and received highly positive reviews from the film critics along with positive ratings at the time of its release.
The leading trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office collection figures of the film. He shared that the movie has collected Rs 2.65 crore on Friday and Rs 4 crore on Saturday during its second weekend. The film is now looking forward to crossing the mark of Rs 50 crore in the upcoming days. Taran tweeted, “#Article15 crosses ₹ 40 cr mark… Continues its steady run at metros, which should help it cross ₹ 50 cr mark in coming days… [Week 2] Fri 2.65 cr, Sat 4 cr. Total: ₹ 40.86 cr. India biz.”
Article 15 has become Ayushmann’s second highest first day grosser while his Badhaai Ho remains his highest opener with its extended four-day first-weekend box office collection of Rs 45.70 crore. The crime drama movie is inspired by real-life events, including the 2014 Badaun gang-rape and murder case of two Dalit teenage girls and 2016 Una flogging incident. The film focuses on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that prohibits discrimination on the basis of caste, race, religion, sex or place of birth.
