How to Apply for an OFW Loan
If you want to start your OFW loan here’s the process! First, you need to apply online or you can also try going into the office of your chosen OFW loan program. Then, you will be signing an application document. You will be assisted by the clerk and they will ask for certain necessary documents. Remember to bring both a photocopy and an original copy.
Take note that the usual interest rate for OFW loan programs is around 1.5% monthly. But it always differs from the program that you chose. When you borrow the money you can pay it within a year or more for a bigger amount.
Here are some of the documents that you will have to prepare before going and applying for an OFW loan:
- 2 valid IDs, such as passport and OWWA ID
- Copy of visa
- Consularized certificate of employment
- Flight ticket and details
- Transfer confirmation
- POEA overseas employment certificate (get this from the POEA office in your area)
- For seafarers, the latest contract
- Billing confirmation
- Proof of residency
